Lightbulb

Ok so check this out. Who invented the light bulb? Thomas Edison right? Wrong. Joseph Wilson Swan? Wrong again.

Despite what you may have learned the first inventor to produce the light bulb was in fact Warren La Rue, in 1840. 40 years before Edison. But the way Warren designed and build it, it was to exspensive to mass produce.

Okay so who had the first patent on a light bulb?
1841 Frederick De Moleyns of England was granted the first patent on his incandescent lamp. 2 platinum wires in a vacumn bulb. Effective but not efficent, it didn't last long. It burned out to quick.
So finally Thomas Edison is next with all American quality. Wrong again.

Joesph Wilson Swan who was born in England, produced a longer lasting, more practial light source. He received his British patent in 1878. Sparing the details he ended up starting his own light bulb company during the early 1880's.

Finally Thomas Edison in 1880 recieved a patent for his light bulb. So why does everyone think Mr. Edison was the first inventor of the light bulb? My guess is because his light bulb had many of the same features as those today, long lasting, glass bulb and screw in base. Effective and efficent.

Oh by the way Warren La Rue was not the first person to try to come up with a light source Sir Humphry Davy, an English physician in 1809 came up with a what is now know as an Arc lamp. Which was not a light bulb which is what the bulb is about.

There you go so who was the first peron to invent the light bulb.
Warren La Rue.

So tell me what do you think? Did you know that?
